ATTAC AT RANIR UBAR
I had settled in the village of Ranir on the delta of the Worsk river, I liked those simple but hardworking people, at the same time I had fallen in love with little Suya, a beautiful and tireless Farmer with gentle features with a marked Northern accent, with hair as red as fire and eyes hidden by her small glasses that could be glimpsed clear and bright.
I asked Sir Fred the Administrator to court her, she is alone and he is her protector by law, Sir Fred was enthusiastic to entrust her to me by tying me to the village as Scribe and Magistrate, and so it was that after some time we were already talking about preparations for our company ceremony, I noticed that she was increasingly interested in my office work, she was happy when I entrusted her with some translations or to keep the archive in order, I then proposed to her to become an apprentice Scribe, I had seen in her a potential for skill, she happily accepted, she followed me everywhere with her pen and her rolls ready for notes.
But something changed the course of life in the village of Ranir, a strange individual arrived at the port with his ship, he was a shady Pirate in search of fortune without earning it, he often wandered around the streets and taverns asking for information on the progress and management of the administration, it did not take long to understand that Sir Fred The administrator was often busy with his work, and it would have been easy to eliminate him to take possession of the village, it has already happened in the village of Hammersgaard where I lived that the pirates attacked the village destroying it and killing many people, because it was not well protected as Ranir is with its high walls made with palisades of pointed trunks, they would have hardly conquered the village by attacking it, the Pirate was not stupid he would have lost many men, so one day while he was as usual in the tavern, he met a slave who served at the tables, he told him about treasures and travels and the life he could have as a free man, this was repeated for a few days until one evening when the tavern was half deserted, he proposed to the slave to kill the administrator sir Fred in exchange he would give him freedom promising him lands and gold plates.
The slave at first gave rope to that Pirate, then rushed to his master and told him the fact, sir Fred told him not to talk to anyone about this and to accept the promises of the Pirate, he in the meantime called the Pisychian lady Pattsy, told him of the attempted murder by the pirate by the slave, she prepared a secret potion that made the temporary death of whoever drank it, then they called the slave and told him to serve it at Fred's table, in the evening the slave arrived as usual in the presence of so many people served the wine to his master who after a few minutes after drinking it collapsed to the ground lifeless.
Pisychian was present and ordered to take him to the infirmary and we all breathlessly waited for the result of the visit, shortly after the soldiers arrived who captured the slave taking him away and the commander said that Sir Fred was dead, everyone was crying and despairing, Lady Pattsy sent for me taking me to a secret place where I met Sir Fred, they told me about the pirate, simulating death they waited for him to enter the city with his men to capture him and execute him.
One morning while everyone was at work they sneaked into the central square and set fire to the stalls and everything they found on their way, the Commander with his men hidden behind the houses captured the pirates, while we with the slaves and the citizens helped put out the fire, but there was no trace of the Pirate who had disguised himself as a merchant and had escaped capture, in the meantime the council of elders appointed Sir Hassan as temporary administrator pending new elections, even though I and a few others knew that by now the pirate had escaped Sir Fred would return to the village.
One morning we met him in front of the infirmary together with Lady Pattsy who were discussing Sir Hassan's ceremony with Lady Pitty, we were all happy to still have him with us..........continue
