LIFE AMONG THE PLANET'S CITIES
Since Suya left, leaving me with the burden of the newspaper on my shoulders, I haven't had much time to travel, to see new places on the planet. I had moved to the new city of Port Victoria. Everything seemed to be going well, but one stormy night, a lightning bolt blinded my eyes. Many Piisichian healers attended and treated me. Just as the city was holding a fair, I wasn't able to attend, and for my convalescence, I preferred to return to the Oasis of the Seven Palms. I renovated the palace, replaced the old furniture chosen by Suya, and redid the port docks, making them wider.
While I was at the Oasis, busy with my newspaper, my niece, Lady Dara, sent me a message. She asked me to meet her at the newly rebuilt city of Varn. She told me they were rebuilding the Castes and needed a Chief for the Scribe caste. At first, I was quite skeptical. I had already gone to that city once for a decent job, but Sir Abraham had clearly told me I would never have a job in the caste. Now it seemed illogical that they would call me for the role of Caste Chief, but I decided to head to the city. It's not far from my Oasis, so the journey wasn't very long, just a few days' sailing.
When I arrived in the city I noticed many changes already at the much larger port, everything was more beautiful and the once anonymous streets are now outlined by many trees that act as wings, and many gardens with flowers and fountains, Sir Varn himself came to the port to welcome me, Lady Dara was with him, and his faithful slave named One, after greeting me he took me around that beautiful city, he told me that everything had changed, even the name now changed to '' Civitae Solarii '', he told me that Sir Abraham was busy with his work in the great library, one of the largest on the Planet Gor, and that Lady Dara helped him, so as far as the laws and administration of the city were concerned I would be the head of the caste, also he took me to their Newspaper, the headquarters is in front of the offices of the Scribes, I was surprised to see that many printers and archives were in the room, I liked that place so we decided to open a special page of the city it would be called '' Solarii news '', There were other Scribes handling current affairs and administration, so I would have plenty of time to organize the new newspaper.
Meanwhile, Sir Varn took me to visit the great valleys surrounding the city, where new structures and a large resort for the new inhabitants will be built. These are beautiful places with long beaches and mountains in the distance. A large volcano formed the backdrop, its fiery red lava cascading down one side. I chose a house near the main gate. I would be close to the port and near the tavern just inside the gate on the left, where I usually stop in the afternoon for a glass of red wine. Lady Dara left for a trip to the North. She told me she was returning to pick up her things from her old city of Jasmine. She would return as soon as possible.
Something not so pleasant happened to Sir Varn. I wasn't present at the time, I was on a mission to the city of Turmus. Sir Nicholas had invited me. Upon my return, I learned that Sir Bactu had left the city. This is a great loss for Sir Varn, who still grieves, but like all Goreans, he seeks happiness by traveling the planet. These days of calm, due in part to the intense heat, are leading us to stay in our cool homes, avoiding walking under the scorching sun. Let's hope the intense heat ends and the city returns to its normal life.
