 JOURNEY AMONG THE VIKING

THE LEGEND OF THOR

I had already decided for some time to travel to meet my family in the North, the last message received from my mother, I do not think my father had been able to do it for that in winter he settles in the large hall and spends his time there between food and slaves, I said the last place where they lived was the village of Jasmine, I knew it from visiting it years ago when I lived in the North.

We went up the river with my ship to the great Vosk, then to the Gulf of Thassa and off to the north after passing the archipelago of Cos, I had forgotten the cold of winter, living in the desert is easily forgotten, the more we climbed towards Torwsland the more the temperature dropped and in the distance the mountains were already covered with snow.

One morning we woke up immersed in a fog bank, everything had disappeared, we could no longer see the mountains and nothing else in front of us. The commander put a lookout on top of the mast to make sure not to run into some rock, went on like this until the  afternoon until the  lookout cry there is a fire on the port side, finally we all breathed a sigh of relief, and the commander ordered to lower the sails by burping on that signal fire,  which gradually enlarged, until we saw the coast with  other fires, now the coast was clear and the docks could be glimpsed with some ships docked, we remained at anchor in the Rada, and I with some guards went ashore with a spear.

It was a very large village and a big sign said ''Viking Settlement of Rungardvik'' I had never heard of this remote village, but big enough, and a lot of snow everywhere, we met the commander of the guards, who welcomed us with respect and made himself available to let us visit the village. She told us that they had different laws from those of other villages on the planet, here women have the same rights and, lately a woman and the Chief Administrator and warrior, their Jarl, in short, lived like their ancestors andrejected the new rules of the villages.

He took us around showing us and explaining the various buildings, the great hall where everyone gathers in winter, then he took us to the hill where they had their temple, but their great Totem was a very large tree where he told me that souls were buried around, and when I asked him to explain well he told me:

Trees have profound roles in both real and imaginary worlds. With their majestic bark, lush branches, and cloud of swaying leaves, humans are drawn to them with deep charm. This magic is embodied in the wonderful account of the Nordic World Tree. According to Norse mythology, the whole world is actually a tree, called Yggdrasil ("igg-dreh-sell") located at the center of the universe.

According to legends, Yggdrasil is a giant living ash tree with branches stretching above the skies and a trunk firmly anchored to the ground by three large roots. Here, the gods gather and meet, seek sustenance from its life-giving branches and watch over the worlds. Radiating from this center extend the nine realms of existence, including Asgard, the abode of the gods and the hall of Valhalla, and Midgard, the land of mortal humans. An anonymous eagle sits atop its branches in constant conflict with an evil snake, Nidhogg, which tries to unbalance the tree by chewing one of its roots.

The three large roots of Yggdrasil are irrigated by three wells, Urdarbrunnr, Hvergelmr and Mimisbrunnr. Urdarbrunnr, or Urda's Well, is cared for by the three maidens Norn, Urda (past), Verdandi (present) and Skuld (future), who weave the threads of destiny for all beingshim.

It was a fascinating thing something that I had never heard before, even if in many places on the planet there are other customs, I looked at that fascinated man and asked him to tell me more and he gave me a parchment that I want to copy in my story.

Passed from one hofgothi to another through the dark mists of time, it tells the story of a great battle between Thor and the Jotun. The battle raged for days and covered huge expanses of land and sea. On the third day, the battle reached the shores of Rudgardvik. People rushed to the Jarl's house and crowded around the fire as the ground shook and flashes of light illuminated the ground and sky around the building. The men felt unable to protect their families and watched as their wives held their children and looked with pleading eyes at their husbands. The children were crying and the women were crying.

The jarl went around his people and continued to reassure them that Thor would protect his loyal people. Finally, the gothi stood up and led the people in prayer to Thor. They all drank mead from a drinking horn and poured its contents on the floor and into the fire, begging Thor to protect them from the storm outside.

After what seemed like an eternity, the sounds of battle began to diminish and outside began to shed light, when a horrible explosion shook the earth and people fell to the floor as the ground below trembled violently back and forth.

And then everything went quiet. A strange stillness that crept into their bones and left a mark. Eventually, it seemed that the wax was melting from their ears and they could hear again. At first all they heard was the crackling of the fire and then the whining of children, mothers and even some men.

The jarl approached the door and cautiously opened the door to see what was left of their beautiful Rungardvik.

Huge trees were scattered all over the ground, as if someone was playing a game of sticks. Slowly everyone left the building and, with tears in their eyes, looked incredulously at what was left of their beautiful paradise.

Immediately, the Góthi gathered the people and headed to their sacred grove to honor the gods and thank them for protecting their families during this catastrophe.

Only, where once there was a lush, verdant grove, there was nothing. Not even a tree. The land itself had been stripped away from the rock on which the grove had stood for so many centuries. All the trees had landed in the meadow below, torn to pieces and without a leaf left on the branches.

Everyone stood on the rock with a sense of mourning and looked at the jarl to tell them what to do. Suddenly, the gothi shivered and closed his eyes, and shouted "Hail Thor, hail the god of thunder, hail the protector," and fell to the ground. The jarl ran to his gothi and tried to wake him up from the trance. Slowly, the gothi opened their eyes and began to speak.

"Thor spoke to me. He saw the devastation of our land and blessed this rock. This land will never experience such storms again. And to cement his promise, Thor touched the rock and left the imprint of his hand as a binding sign of his promise.

Rejoicing to know that Thor had blessed them, the people gathered all the trees from the meadow and using the wood of the sacred grove, built a beautiful temple on the rock.

From that first gothi, which was then the hofgothi, there was an unbroken line of hofgothis. I am only the last, but the line will continue after me.

Thor kept his promise, this temple has stood the test of time and storms and continues to thrive, as do the people they worship in its sacred halls.

What else to say we are still here to listen to their stories and their customs, when they warned us that the fog had cleared and it was time to leave at high tide towards Jasmine, it was a few days of travel and we left.

BIG PARTY IN THE CITY OF TURMUS
sir gareth
While I was preparing my stall for the great fair in the city of Holmesk, the city where I recently moved, to work as Magistrate and Editor of the Gazette of Moons, I received a message from my long-time friend Sir Nicholas Eel, inviting me to the great feast organized in the city of Turmus, with dancers and lots of wine served to the guests by the Kajire always attentive to filling the cups of the free.
I arrived and the big Inn was already full, but luckily Sir Nic had reserved me a place near him, we have known each other since the time we lived together in the city of Sais, I was a Magistrate and he was a Slaveholder, then our paths diverged, until we met again, it was he who celebrated one of my weddings, and he was also a Lawyer in a trial, then we lost sight of each other, but when we escaped from Port Victoria, I followed Sir Ember with his slave Rose, who I had fallen in love with, and we landed in Turmus, and I met him again, he was the first Slaveholder and had a lot of work and was active, while Ember after a few days, having no business to conclude, went away without leaving any trace. I didn't have much work, other women arrived taking the place of Scribe and Magistrate, the newspaper wasn't doing well, in Turmus few people knew how to read, Rose had gone away, so I no longer had any reason to stay
In Turmus I had a big house, a job as a Scribe and an office for the newspaper La Voce di Turmus, I lived there for a few years, then I left, going up the Wosk to the city of Thentis, we stayed there for a few years, I had a class for Scribe, but due to a drama with Lady Monica we left the city. and with my companion Brjiana, we left first for the North, then to the South in the new Cartassa, from there I reclaimed the land of my Ancestors in the desert, and we rebuilt the Oasis of the seven palms, we were happy, I had my family's Oasis El Nairad again, we had our newspaper. with a fair amount of success, until she fell in love with an Opal prospector, and ran away with him to the mines in the mountains of the desert, this hit me hard because she had taken all my possessions and the coins obtained from the newspaper by running away, I had to start over in the oasis of Cartassa with Lady Safina.

Nothing more was heard of Brjiana and her Opal-seeking lover, it is said that they remained trapped in a tunnel, but I don't want to think about it.
When we arrived in Turmus, Lady Sella and her other friends were sitting at a table outside the inn, while a little further away, other dancers were performing on the dance floor. I, Sir Nic and other free people sitting around the large dance floor inside, watched in amazement.

at the Kajires dances, the music cheered up the atmosphere and the barrels of Cos wine were wasted, in short a beautiful evening, thanks to Sir Nic for his invitation.

INTERVIEWER WITH THE DANCE GROUP ''WA NGAO taluna''
by Suya El Nairad co-editor

I am here today to interview the Wa Ngao Taluna dance group. I know many have heard of this tribe of brave and fearless women, and have probably even seen a great show in some Gorean city. Today we are with choreographer Ame Thomas to learn more about the formation of the group.
We have already had the opportunity to meet them at the En kara fair this year. and we have admired their dance very much. I sit with Anna in front of a cup of tea and ask him to answer some questions, so all the Planet Gor can know.

-Welcome Ame and thank you for accepting the invitation. First of all, I would like to know a little more about you, so we can talk about the origins of the group and how it all started.

- What is the name of the dance group?-

Ame: We call ourselves Wadugu Wa Dansi, but most of the time they simply call us Wa Ngao Taluna Dance Group>.

- How did it all start? Who had the idea to create a Gorean dance group?

Ame: We are a Gorean dance group, I have been in Gor since 2007, first as a kajira and then as a FW. When I came to the tribe in 2015, I was teaching FW dance at the Gorean Campus and Felicity took a number of my classes. We talked and decided it would be a great way to teach Taluna culture to other Goreans who don't know us or think we are Panthers.

- Can anyone dance in the group or is it just for tribe members? How many people have been in this group?

Ame: This is a group for members of the tribe, both Free and Slave. Over time, everyone has participated at one time or another.

- How is the group divided? Are you responsible for everything, from choreography, to scenography, to the choice of music?

Ame: You choose the music and write the choreography, the lyrics are written by the whole tribe and some have contributed solo dances. Joy created our scenography. We usually use only one scene, as all our dances remain jungle-centric.

- How does it feel to dance and perform at events, as well as create new shows?

Ame: We really enjoy the opportunity to dance at exhibitions and events. We face the challenge of the general Gorean belief that FW/FM don't dance, even though it is in the books, so we mostly do our own exhibitions and perform at En'Kara.

- What is the current lineup of the group?

Ame: Our group is made up of all the members of the tribe, Free and Slaves. Anyone in the tribe who wants to create their own dance can contact me for assistance.

I appreciate your availability, it was a wonderful interview. It was a pleasure to learn more about the dance group. Before the end of the interview, I would like to ask you for the contact details of the dance group so that everyone can know where to find you.

ORLANDO & LADY HARMONY AND DAUGHTER DARA

ORLANDO EL NAIRAD

8th part

Orlando after leaving the city of Port Olni, stopped at Port Kar, a very difficult and hostile city, they had told him that his younger brother Darian lived there, and worked at the Scribes' tower as a Lawyer, as soon as he arrived at the port he asked everyone he met about his brother Darian, but no one seemed to have ever seen him, when he arrived at the Scribes' tower, he asked for the Head of the caste, but he was one of the twelve Captains, and traveling with his ship for alliances, at that time Port Kar was at war with the city of Ar, and the situation in the city was not simple, the Regent was another Captain, I tried to help him by browsing the files in the archives, but for years no cases had been celebrated and no one reported anyone, the old citizens were all far away, there was no way to get news.
One morning while he was walking, on the bridge overlooking the valley towards the hills of the mines, a girl called Orlando, he looked at her with curiosity, she was armed and half naked, surely one of the women of the Panther tribe who lived in the village on the heights at the end of the valley, she approached furtively and said she had heard that he was looking for Sir Darian, Orlando's face lit up and she said, please give me some clues to find him, she always furtively, did not want to be seen talking to a free man, she told him that Darian, had been in their village as a guest of the queen, they had lived together with her for some time, then they had left for the Black City, to participate in a tournament between warriors, the Queen had died during a fight, Darian due to the strong pain and deep sadness for having lost his beloved had left for the south to find his mother and brother.

Orlando was sad, for what he had heard, but happy to have news of Darian and that he was still alive, after a few days he left Port kar to return to the South, but on the ship he met Lady Harmony also headed south, Harmony was a beautiful woman, she was very educated, even if she was only a merchant, who traveled the planet for her business, Orlando immediately fell in love with that woman, she told him that he was the heir of the Oasis of the seven palms, and that one day he would rebuild the city, she was enthusiastic and fell in love in turn with that beautiful man with sunburned skin, tall with flowing blond hair, she invited him to her house in the city of Brundisium, there he had his warehouse, and the palace that his father had left him.
Orlando followed that woman who took him with her to the palace, and together they decided that soon they would celebrate the Ceremony of companionship, and after a few Hands they went to the Scribes' office for the registration and organized the ceremony at the temple and the party in the large garden of the palace, they lived happily loving each other until one day Harmony told Orlando that she was expecting a child, it was the height of happiness, finally she would have the heir of her dynasty ''El Nairad'' but her real dream was the reconstruction of her Oasis, so they decided to have the boy or girl born in her rebuilt city.
They set out to reach his ancient land, where now there were only ruins, which recalled a distant shining past, Harmony called the best builders, who rebuilt the Oasis of the seven palms, a beautiful city with many houses and a large palace with a garden all around, the Oasis was on the track that from the city of Ar leads to the Oasis of Cartassa, so the caravans stopped there carrying riches.

Finally a beautiful baby girl was born, Orlando was very happy even if he would have preferred a boy but he loved that little girl, together with Harmony they decided to name her Dara, in memory of his brother Darian, everything was going well, life was slow and happy, until one day Harmony left for a business trip to the North, and never came back, Orlando tired of waiting and seeing the oasis emptying day after day, decided to leave with his daughter in search of his companion, heading to the North, but when he arrived in Brundisium at the old palace they told him that the ship Harmony was traveling on had sunk during a storm, and nothing more was heard of her and her escort, it was a hard blow for Orlando, he had the little girl with him now grown up, who needed to study and grow up happy, so he decided to return to Port Olni his adopted city, and where his daughter would study, without forgetting to look for his brother Darian who he hadn't seen for years.

KYO AND HER TWIN SISTER

KAJIRA KYO

1°  part

.............................................

The sun and moon are born

One day, Odin looks down on Gor and sees everyone who lives there

He thinks for a moment, and a grin appears on his face

In a dark voice, he says

“I miss something there, and I will send you the sun and the moon”

On that day, Saedis and Kyo were born

TWINS

No one knows who is the angel and who is the devil—only their father knows, and their father is Odin himself.

LADY SABAYNA
How it all began:

Kyo looked around for a moment when she saw her chain sister and chain brother. Both had made themselves comfortable on one of the many cushions on the roof terrace, as they had already finished their tasks and the builders were busy rebuilding the city of Isfahan.

SIR HERMES - SIR SIGFRID
This gave her chain siblings and her enough time to devote themselves to other tasks. This meant that she only listened to her chain sister Adena and her chain brother Nika for a moment, as their conversation revolved solely around the latest gossip in Isfahan. Both of them had picked it up at the market.

SIR DARIAN - LADY SUYA
She was tempted to follow the conversation for a while. But she couldn't really follow it. She had to sort out her thoughts, as she had been given the task by her khan to write down her own story. This was unfamiliar to her, but it also gave her the opportunity to reveal a little more about herself to everyone.

LADY LUELLA
With the tip of the quill she held in her right hand, she tapped the tip of her nose, completely lost in her thoughts at that moment. Where was the best place to start? Basically, where it all began. She had prepared well, with a scroll to fill with words and a small inkwell lying on a cloth. Now it was time to put those words on paper, to write down the words that were forming into a story in her mind. Slowly, she dipped the tip of the pen into the inkwell and began to write.

SIR TARAMIS NEO
She didn't know much about her past, only what had happened as she grew older. How she and her twin sister had been born into a world ruled by men, where every woman, even the Ubara of a town or village, had to expect to end up in a collar. This world, called Gor, had its beautiful sides, but it was harsh and dangerous, as both of them would quickly learn.

KAJIRA SALLY
But let's start with that day when a snowstorm raged in a small village high up in the north, on the border with those mountains. This small village was called Scagnar.

Every inhabitant of Scagnar was in a state of excitement, for everyone knew that the herbalist Eowyn Boissay was expecting twins. But no one knew whether they would be warriors or even girls. Although everyone would have preferred them to be warriors.

When the time came, everyone was thrown out of the hut by the healer and the bonds who were allowed to do so. All that could be heard from outside was murmuring. But it was Saedis who saw the light of Gors, and her voice was strong, prompting the healer to say, “This girl will have a strong will.” When one of the bonds told the High Jarl that the first child was a girl, he could only be heard muttering something.

But then the moment came when the second child saw the light of Gor. Her lips were just as delicate and pink as her sister's. But there was something gentle about her face; she didn't cry right away. But she was fine and let out a short cry. It was Kyoko, or Kyo, as her mother always called her affectionately. The healer said only to her, “This little girl will enchant everyone with her smile one day.”

When the High Jarl heard that the second child was also a girl, all eyes turned to Bond Candy, who looked worriedly at Eo. At that moment, it was clear to her that she had to act quickly. There were only hours to go before the High Jarl and his advisors would arrive, along with the Slaver.

It was true that the High Jarl wanted warriors, as Eo's mother had no mate. She was under the protection of the High Jarl and was thus protected from the Slaver and the other warriors. She was also valued as a herbalist.

But she had often been asked who the father of the children was, and she had never revealed this. Not even to my sister and me. To this day, she remains silent about who our father is, except that she once murmured to Saedis and me, “Odin is your father, you are his gift to this world,” but we knew that couldn't be true.

What was true, however, was that she had to leave the village that same night when the woman named Candy came to her. She told her that the slave trader had laid claim to her. Before guards could be posted to prevent her from fleeing, she took Saedis and Kyo with her, along with the few belongings she had packed for safety.

She felt the pain in her heart at having to leave her beloved home, but she had no other choice. She had to prevent her two children from ending up in slavery. At that point, no one could have known what would happen in the course of their lives.

The journey on the Thassa took many weeks until one day they arrived at a harbor where she hoped and wished that they would be safe and could live there. At that time, the city was called Schendi. The praetor at the time, Allen Vella, was a respected man who knew how to protect his citizens.

Eowyn felt safe and secure here. She had rented a house in the middle of the city. It wasn't particularly large, but it was perfectly adequate for her and her two girls. Saedis and Kyo grew up in a sheltered environment. Each was different in her own way. Even though they looked alike, as their mother always said when she looked at them both: light and darkness.

But it wasn't just that they looked alike; they didn't resemble their mother in any way! Their mother Eo was and is a beautiful woman, with long silky hair the color of fire, eyes reminiscent of emeralds, and skin like porcelain. But Saedie and Kyo were completely different. Both had long golden-blonde hair and eyes that reminded one of the depths of Thassa or even the icy mountains in the north.

Their skin was also different, which was probably due to the fact that they were now growing up in the south. Their skin was darker, but not by much. However, they were still different from their mother in that they had small freckles on their skin, which were clearly visible on their cheeks and small noses. The older they got, the more their mother realized that she had to protect her two girls.

It was now becoming more common for the praetor to cast an eye on both of them and the first sword of Schendi. That is why she kept one daughter with her and sent the other away. But this journey was not without danger, as the route would take them through the desert until they reached the city better known as the Oasis of the Four Palms. It was clear that her youngest would be chosen, as she was more interested in writing and traveling.

However, I was not exactly thrilled and thought it was unfair that I had to go there. It was well known that at that time, many warriors from the north would occasionally come to the oasis or set up camp nearby in search of new slaves. But the praetor Thor Thracer had apparently made an agreement with some mercenaries who agreed to protect the city.

Even though people were told not to leave the city, most did not obey. Many never returned. Rumor had it that they had been attacked and captured by panthers on their way to the oasis trading post.

Kyo was also curious to see the trading post, and she had the opportunity to do so when a Bakah warrior offered to take a few people there for a small fee. His name was Dumond Wise.

Not only did he and some of his warriors, including the Pasha himself, have to go to the trading post, but they would also escort the inhabitants of the oasis back home safely. They knew exactly how dangerous the journey through the jungle could be, where wild women, better known as panthers, roamed around, waiting to lure someone into their net and sell them. Whether for candy, furs, or even a few arrowheads. So it came to pass that Kyo was able to visit that place once. It was a completely different world.

It was completely different from life in the oasis. The trading post was small, but there were still many strangers there. Even panthers roamed around, teasing the warriors or stealing from the market stalls. It was completely different from the oasis of the four palm trees. There were many outlaws and mercenaries... even assassins lurking in the dark.

Once the Bakah had brought all the inhabitants back safely, time passed a little faster. There were many festivals and events. During this time, Kyo also witnessed a panther being captured for stealing in the city. This panther was captured by one of the Bakah warriors and publicly forced into slavery.

This was the first time I saw someone being branded. Even today, it sends a slight shiver down my spine. I knew that one day this would probably happen to me too.

On a sunny day—although the sun always seemed to shine—a messenger arrived with a scroll. It came directly from her sister Saedis. Surely, as always, she missed her and hoped she would come home soon. But not this time. Rather, this message was one that showed that her sister was desperate.

“My little sister Kyo,

I don't know how to say this. You've noticed during your visits that our mother has changed. Not only has she been shut away in the house, wrapped in dark clothes, but she also seems to have gained weight over the last seven months. You surely know what this could mean. I don't want to think about whether it's true. But I need you, I'm all alone in our house. Mother... she... she's disappeared. Please, Kyo, come home, we have to find her... find out why she left us alone. She didn't leave a note, nothing.

Your sister, Saedis.”

Kyo knew she had to go home. She couldn't leave her sister alone. Even if there was a danger that someone could enslave her. But she had to take that risk. The very next day, she reported it to the chief scribe, who excused her from her studies for that period of time. But she didn't know how long it would take to search for her mother, whether it would take years or not so long. No one could tell her, not even her beloved sister.
